About DFNB
Dairy Farmers of New Brunswick (DFNB), a non-profit organization funded by dairy farmers, is the organization through which New Brunswick’s dairy farmers collectively market their raw milk.
DFNB is led by a Board of directors consisting of nine dairy farmers who are elected by farmers throughout the province. The Board creates policies designed to represent the interests of New Brunswick dairy farmers in their pursuit of operating sustainable dairy farms that produce high-quality milk within a supply management system.
Under the supply management system in Canada, raw milk production is matched to market demand. DFNB shares, with other provincial Boards, markets and revenues derived from marketing of raw milk used in industrial products such as cheese, yogurt, ice cream, butter, and skim milk powder and fluid products such as milk and cream.

Veterinary and
Laboratory services
“Reliable veterinary services are critical to dairy farming, and any changes have a direct impact on our industry. Dairy Farmers of New Brunswick is working closely with the Agriculture Alliance and other agricultural organizations to address these concerns. We are asking government to prioritize consultation and carefully consider the future of veterinary services to ensure a sustainable path forward for all.”

Announced changes by Agropur
“Agropur’s announced changes to its dairy processing operations in Atlantic Canada brings much-needed processing capacity to the Maritimes. Projects such as these are essential for the dairy sector to respond to growing markets. Regardless of the positive outcomes this project will bring to the broader region, we acknowledge that the announcement of the eventual closure of the Sussex plant is difficult to envision. The Sussex plant has been a valued partner in our region’s dairy sector and a fixture in the local community. We trust that Agropur will support its dairy farmer members, employees, and the local community as they navigate through these announced changes.”

DFNB’s board of directors hold at least 6 in person meetings per year and also hold 6 or more virtual meetings each year to control and regulate the marketing and production of milk; to promote the marketing, production and consumption of milk and to undertake research activities pertaining to milk.
